Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of the PromptStream app and website. Using PromptStream means you accept them.

The service

PromptStream is a dictation app for macOS and Linux. It records audio while you hold a hotkey, converts it to text using third-party speech and language models, and inserts that text into the app you are using.

Your account

You need an account to use PromptStream. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13.

Plans and payment

• Free — 20,000 words a week, at no cost.
• Pro — $7 per month or $59 per year, for unlimited personal dictation.

Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rate partial periods. If we change prices we will tell existing subscribers before it affects them.

Fair use

“Unlimited” means unlimited normal dictation by one person. It does not cover automated pipelines, batch transcription of recordings, resale of the transcription capacity, or sharing one account across a team. We apply a generous hourly ceiling to catch abuse and will contact you before acting if you approach it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use PromptStream to:

• record people without the consent the law where you are requires;
• break any law, or infringe anyone's rights;
• attempt to breach, overload, or reverse-engineer the service;
• resell or redistribute the service without our written permission.

Your content

Your speech and the text produced from it are yours. We claim no ownership. We process them only to give you the transcript, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability

We work to keep PromptStream running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. It depends on third-party providers and your own network. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue a paid feature you rely on, we will refund the unused portion of your subscription.

Accuracy

Speech recognition and AI cleanup are imperfect. Transcripts may contain errors. Check anything that matters before you send it. PromptStream is not suitable as the sole record in medical, legal, or safety-critical settings.

Warranty and liability

PromptStream is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending your use

You may stop using PromptStream and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, and will explain why unless the law prevents us.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use PromptStream after that means you accept the new terms.
